DARK & RICH
MONASTRELL

DO YECLA | SPAIN

Introducing the Enchanting Monastrell – a wine as captivating as the legendary El Gringo. Like the dark, ruby-red hue of this Monastrell, El Gringo’s adventures left an indelible mark on the world.

TASTING NOTES MONASTRELL

Its deep dark ruby red color, accented by a violet blue rim, sets the stage for an enchanting experience. Mature blackberries and ripe juicy dark cherries dance with gentle hints of wild herbs, while a dark chocolate note adds a touch of decadence to the aroma.

On the palate, this wine is a delightful revelation. A perfect balance between mature fruits and rich dark chocolate with a natural sweetness. Gentle tannins caress the palate, leaving a smooth and velvety finish that lingers in a blissful embrace.

Aged for 6 months in exquisite French oak barrels, this Monastrell reveals its bold, authentic character.

DARK RED
TEMPRANILLO

VDT CASTILLA | SPAIN

The Dark Red Tempranillo wine is authentic, free, bold, youthful and will never cease to surprise you. Just like El Gringo himself, who travelled half the world to experience a thousand adventures.

TASTING NOTES TEMPRANILLO

On the palate berry flavours with juiciness getting smoothed out with light vanilla and delicate milk chocolate and roasted Java bean. On the palate the wine is luscious, full-bodied with firm and velvety tannins and a long finish.

Aged for 4 months in 1-2 year old French and American oak barrels.

SLIGHTLY OAKED
CHARDONNAY

VDT CASTILLA | SPAIN

Introducing the Captivating Chardonnay – a wine that delights the senses, much like the adventurous spirit of El Gringo. This wine’s golden hue mirrors the sun-kissed landscapes that El Gringo journeyed through.

TASTING NOTES CHARDONNAY

On the palate, this wine is a true delight. The fruity notes are enlivened by a pleasant acidity that adds a refreshing touch. Toasted and vanilla flavors lend richness and volume, creating a symphony of taste that lingers in a long, satisfying aftertaste.

Aged for 4 months in fine American oak barrels, this White Delight exudes sophistication and character.

WHO IS EL GRINGO

He was famous as the “the Western extra of a thousand faces”. This American actor, a living example of the perennial extra, disappeared from US screens overnight, never to return.

A huge aura of mystery surrounds his story. Some say he was the victim of evil deeds, while others claim he traveled to Spain for love. In the United States, the only thing known about his whereabouts is a note found in his flat the day he disappeared.

It was a Spanish spaghetti Western, “Indian Troubles”, where he played the cowboy “Outsider Bill”. And the legend sprang up at that very moment.

DISCOVER HIS STORY

Little Johnny dreamed of stardom, but after a failed attempt in the world of rock music, he had to find a new job to pay the rent. So, he became an errand boy for a big film producer in the Big Apple.

As a “production assistant” in B movies, it was a respectable yet risky job. One fine autumn day, he witnessed something he shouldn’t have in Chinatown. At that moment, Johnny had two epiphanies. The karaoke bar owned by Mr. Chang could no longer be the main setting of “K-Pop Dragons,” and he needed to keep his mouth shut and find a safe hiding spot.

He and his boss devised a master plan. Johnny would hide behind the roles of extras in films, taking on their identities to live anonymously in roadside motels and find happiness. Thus, the shy Johnny became the charismatic “Hurricane Jones,” the extra with a thousand faces.

Things went smoothly at first. He played roles flawlessly, staying unnoticed in the credits, and the boy who once handed out coffee on film sets was forgotten. But calm always follows a storm, and it lasted until the rain returned. One phrase, a mere sentence, catapulted him to stardom: “Hey bandit, go back to where you came from” became a meme, a trending topic, a challenge, an Instagram filter… And so, good old Johnny had to flee from fame in the most unexpected of places.

An American in… TABERNAS. A tiny, sunny town in Almería where the best spaghetti Western scenes in history were shot. The perfect place to hide and seek new acting opportunities. He might even be the driving force behind the “New Age Spaghetti Western” genre.

What awaited him was the most authentic Western set ever created, concealed by the vast desert of Almería. But he wondered, what were the people like?

Not even in his wildest dreams could he have imagined such a warm welcome. The entire village held banners welcoming the film crew, and three words sufficed to make Johnny feel at home: “AMERICANS WELCOME HOME”.

Johnny had been living in the wild, wild Spanish West for over 4 years. Since his debut in spaghetti Westerns, he garnered critical respect and got a star on the famous “Spanish Hollywood” Walk of Fame.

We’ve seen him transform into Bad Clay, the canny bartender; Tennessee James, the sought-after outlaw; and Jack the Avenger, the evil sheriff. Good old Johnny D Jones is known in Tabernas as “El Gringo”, and he’s also a regular in the taverns. He sits with his glass of wine on the terrace of “Rincón Andaluz”, making friends and toasting under the sun with a plate of delicious “jamón”.

For those wondering, those fellows never figured out his whereabouts. Maybe they never pursued him, or maybe they never even saw him. But that’s another story.
